The Evolution of the Entrepreneur: From Golden Touch to Awakened Wisdom
“Why do so many brilliant entrepreneurs hit a plateau despite doing everything right?”
Or:
“Every entrepreneur dreams of success—but few realize that it’s not skills or strategies that hold them back. It’s something much deeper…”
Entrepreneurship is an ever-evolving journey that requires not just external strategies and skills but also deep personal growth and self-awareness. As you progress through your entrepreneurial career, you often transition through three distinct stages—each requiring different approaches and mindsets. These stages are characterized by different levels of experience, awareness and inner work.
In this blog, we’ll explore three distinct types of entrepreneurs: the Young Entrepreneur, the Matured Entrepreneur and the Awakened Entrepreneur.
- The Young Entrepreneur: The Golden Touch
The first stage of entrepreneurship is what many of you aspire to experience: the “golden touch.” As a young entrepreneur, you have typically entered the business world with lots of zest and enthusiasm, along with a certain charisma that makes everything you touch turn to gold. This is the stage of doing it and making it happen.
Energy is high, ideas are overflowing and there’s an almost childlike confidence: “I will do it. I will make it big. I will prove myself.”
In the early stages of your entrepreneurial journey, you often experience rapid success with minimal effort. Your business seems to grow effortlessly and everything you do feels like it falls into place. It’s a beautiful, blessed stage — everything seems possible.
You may not have mastered the technical skills or knowledge of your industry, but your ability to tap into trends, capitalize on opportunities and adapt quickly often propels you forward.
Your success is often more about timing and the alignment of external factors than about a well-defined business strategy. Without the development of deeper skills, this kind of success can be fleeting.
At this stage, you may face a major challenge: once the external factors stop aligning, your lack of foundational knowledge or awareness can leave you vulnerable. Success at this stage is fragile and short lived because it’s built more on chance and enthusiasm than on solid, long-term strategies. This is like all the universal forces colliding and encouraging you to charge ahead. We all have gone through this, isn’t it. But as nothing is permanent and has to end, this period too reaches an end sooner than expected. It’s here that you now get into the next stage, the domain of learning and enhancing skills as you feel that there is more to this game than you already know.
- The Matured Entrepreneur: Mastering Skills and Systems
As you grow and gain experience, you enter the second stage of your journey: the Matured Entrepreneur. This stage is defined by your focus on learning, developing new skills and refining existing strategies. As a matured entrepreneur, you know that success is not just about luck or instinct; it requires hard work, discipline and continuous upgradation.
You are often in the middle years of your business career. You have experienced both the highs and lows of entrepreneurship and have learned that consistent success depends on mastering key skills. Whether it’s sales, marketing, finance or leadership, you invest in acquiring knowledge and expertise. You attend trainings, hire mentors and refine your strategies to scale your business effectively.
At this stage, you learn how to execute proven formulas and systems. Your business runs on repeatable processes that generate results. This stage represents a shift from being driven by pure enthusiasm to being guided by knowledge and expertise, a more technical stage. You know the importance of systems, structure and having a strong support network.
You are now attending workshops, learning expensive courses, knowing about funnels, conversion, negotiation, branding and productivity. You are becoming a master of your trade now.
And somewhere this external success and hard work also begins to show up for some—New car, bigger house, vacations, recognition, growth, etc.
But here’s the silent trap…
You begin to believe you know how to succeed. That if anything goes wrong, you can fix it with your skills, strategies, expertise, experience or team. But here comes the catch, life sadly… doesn’t follow strategies, it has its own set of rules which we seldom understand.
And it’s here that your biggest test as an entrepreneur lies and the coming times are going to shake you up completely. You are now a master and have seen the peak of success but again nothing is permanent and for sure the downward spiral comes up. And this one is the toughest of them all as here you enter the final phase and the most crucial one of your existence. This one can make or break you altogether and for so many is the biggest test of not just their business but life.
- The Awakened Entrepreneur: The Real Journey
This is the level where most of you feel the ground shifting under your feet. You’ve done everything right, built a team, applied the formulas, hired mentors. But now… nothing is working. Sales are down, clients are leaving, your best staff quitting. Your energy has drained, you have tried everything, you learned — again and again. You have doubled efforts, shown restraint, exhibited a lot of fire and fighting power, alas to no result though. You have revisited the formulas of the last stage, revised all what you have known, but the situations hardly change.
This is the breakdown, the crash, the chaos, a stage where all of the skills, knowledge, strategies, plans don’t work leaving you with serious self questions- how to move ahead, what’s the path forward, which is the way to move ahead?
This is a major crossroad stage and it’s here that not just the business/trade but you—the entrepreneur, the person—will be tested. It’s here that the shift needs to happen from working upon the business to working upon the self, it’s time to evolve and learn the most important principle of life- ALL LEARNING IS UNLEARNING. It’s here that you begin to realize that the external business is nothing but a mirror of your inner person. The business begins to mirror your own unresolved inner world. And now, nothing from the past can help — unless you start clearing these hidden layers.
You feel like you’re drowning in quicksand—doing more, pushing harder—only to sink deeper. But this breakdown, if embraced, holds the seed of your biggest breakthrough.
All your fears, insecurities, inner turmoil, sadness, worthiness, lack of self confidence, frustrations, helplessness, past patterns show up. And these failures are not just about a business failing it’s about you collapsing as it’s during these times that most get into addictions, depression, sadness, develop health issues with heart ailments being so common nowadays, lose marriages or simply fade away.
At this stage, you need to realize that your personal growth is just as critical as your business strategies. You need to recognize that you must work on yourself—healing emotional wounds, clearing past blockages and addressing the patterns that have been holding you back.
And continuing to rely on the external formulas of the second stage no longer will work.
Because its realization time, the business owner and the person are one now and not separate entities and whatever the shortcomings of the person are will reflect in his business
External strategies and skills are important but they are no longer enough if your inner world is misaligned. The awakened entrepreneur understands that without addressing his inner emotional and mental blocks he will continue to face the same obstacles, no matter how many new strategies he learns.
In fact this is the time where most entrepreneurs waste a lot of money in learning more since they feel they must have missed out on something little knowing that its like putting time, money, resources and most importantly hope in a big black hole which will just gulp up everything. This is the most challenging phase, unfortunately few ones recognize this.
And it’s here there has to be a shift in approach, mentality and priorities failing which actual real failure will loom large leaving behind sadness, failure, incompleteness and heartbreaks.
This stage is about introspection, self-awareness, and emotional healing. You have to recognize your deep-rooted fears, insecurities and limiting beliefs that hold you back.
The fears of failure, fear of success, imposter syndrome, self-doubt and even trauma from past experiences show up large. You have to actively seek ways to heal and transform yourself, whether through therapy, coaching, meditation or other forms of inner work.
And only when you cross this stage do you reach the third stage of Awakened entrepreneur which a few ones do, hence the success rate for entrepreneurs upscaling is so low. Initial success is not a permanent happening, you have to pass this stage for experiencing true success. This is your biggest test. There are much more misses than hits here. So many get stuck up here, there are thousands and lakhs in this domain, the worst affected are the ones who are not even aware that the second stage formulas will not work here. They keep trying and trying, same and same, new trainings, new courses little realizing that the phase is over now, it’s not going to help.

Conclusion: Moving Beyond the Plateau
The entrepreneurial journey is a dynamic, ever-changing process. The three stages—Young Entrepreneur, Matured Entrepreneur and Awakened Entrepreneur—represent the different phases of growth that you go through. While external skills and strategies are essential in the earlier stages, true success in the long run requires deeper inner work.
At the third stage, you understand that healing your inner world and confronting your own fears and limitations is what allows you to break free from the patterns that keep you stuck. By addressing these inner blockages, you can transcend the limitations of the previous stages and experience sustainable, lasting success.
The path to entrepreneurial greatness is not just about mastering external strategies—it’s about mastering yourself. And lets remember not anything we do in life goes waste, all what we learnt at step 2 will be useful in step 3 at a secondary level though where life alignment and clearing blockages become primary and paramount.
Tony Robbins the well-known motivational speaker and entrepreneur, often talks about his own journey of overcoming personal struggles and how this has shaped his approach to business and life. He credits much of his success to his ability to address emotional blockages, confront limiting beliefs and continuously work on personal development. His personal healing and growth are intricately tied to his ability to help others and create a lasting impact in his business.
In conclusion, whether it’s Richard Branson learning to refine his business acumen, Elon Musk scaling his companies through skill development or Oprah Winfrey realizing the need for emotional healing to align with her true purpose, these entrepreneurs show that the path to success is not linear. At each stage, new challenges arise, but the key to sustainable success often lies in inner growth, healing and self development.
But a few reach this level of Awakening, ever wondered Why?
