The other day, one of my friends asked me: “Why are you so interested in your ancestors? You don’t know them all, just a few, they are long dead and are absolutely irrelevant now!” I just looked around smiled at him and told him I can see Me in You, the only difference is the timeline, I was the same five years back until I discovered that connecting with our roots and ancestors help us resolve so many chronic deeper issues in our life. It uncovers our inner darker areas and reach to the best possible version to be happy and successful and yes not to repeat the old patterns which have been plaguing me and my family for ages.
So what brings me to this space of understanding which is probably still ridiculed, ignored, denied vehemently and sometimes even termed as superstitious. Lets step back a little and let me explain.
I am an engineer and come from a science background which speaks about the theory of connectivity. That means, I don’t look at the person as an isolated entity, rather a part of a larger system in which there are rules about how the parts relate with each other and patterns that repeat. If one part of the system changes, the rest has to adapt. We see that very clearly that when one person dies, then everybody’s roles have to change and accommodate the new situation.
I’ve come across this theory which I very strongly have experienced and is my truth today that we carry forward both the strengths and the challenges of our ancestors. Whether we realize it or not family patterns including unresolved issues or traumas influence our behavior, decisions and even the outcomes in our business.
For me personally it wasn’t in my zone of belief until I hit a significant roadblock in my work that things truly began to shift downside for me. Despite putting in maximum effort, offering top-tier products, services and receiving positive feedback from clients, my business simply wasn’t growing. It felt like I was constantly pushing against an invisible barrier. I experienced self-doubt, product- service doubt, fear, guilt and exhaustion. At times, I was completely overwhelmed by frustration and to the brink of breakdown. Although I managed to pull myself out of those negative states through positive self work, but the reality remained—I was stuck, the only difference being this time I was positive that things would change. And I came across a post which mentioned people feel that positive thinking is enough to attract success but that’s not all to it, that’s merely the fuel, you have to drive the correct path to success mainly by eliminating blockages, speed breakers, roadblocks along the way and that’s where this fuel of positive thinking will be most consumed.
It was during this time that I started to explore the concept of inherited family dynamics and how they influence success, work and money. In systemic coaching, this is often referred to as ‘class neurosis’—the idea that we may unconsciously limit our own success to remain in line with the experiences and beliefs of previous generations. I also these days came across a phrase that read ‘A business failure can be a family success,’ meaning that without realizing it we stay loyal to family patterns by replicating the limitations or challenges of our ancestors. Scores and crores of entrepreneurs are today in the glass ceiling effect meaning they are touching the ceiling and are able to see the skies or the upward ladder but sadly cannot break out to hold the ladder due to the limitations caused by inheritance.
This theory very clearly suggests that we may struggle to surpass the success levels of those who came before us because of deep-seated emotional ties or subconscious loyalty. In this way, our inability to break through may not just be due to external factors but also to inherited beliefs about work, worth and success. Understanding and addressing these patterns can be a key to unlocking new growth and potential. Isn’t this a bingo moment- for me definitely it was.
Even in energy psychology, it is mentioned that your mind is extremely powerful and that what you think and believe tends to become true. Going a step ahead, we are subconsciously subscribed to mental patterns and forms of thinking and quite a few of those patterns don’t even originate within ourselves but from our family lineage. We are practically born with them. And those beliefs they are sometimes harder to discover, but they have the same influence on us and our lives as something that we choose to believe in a more conscious way. It doesn’t matter whether we believe in it or not, the truth is in the happening like it doesn’t matter if you believe that there is snow in the Himalayas or not, the truth never changes the only thing that changes is our belief and understanding after we get to the depths of discovering the truth.
I discovered that one of my forefathers had huge challenges with money, he struggled a lot with property matters, lost money in business deals, faced unpaid dues and so much of that got transferred to me. Absolutely same, only the characters and timelines of this movie have changed, rest all are ditto.
This is just one of many stories. One of many pieces of the puzzles that freed me of scarcity, money challenges and losses and gave me a high positivity and motivation, such a good feeling about my professional projects thereon. I can feel and I deeply know that it’s easy now. That all is falling into place. And that I am incredibly lucky about everything I am achieving. No more focus on failure, difficulties, blockages. It is really amazing! Its actually also about Newtons second law – Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only the form can change. With systematic result oriented processes and systems I am able to transmute this non working negative energy to positive success generating energies.
I have now realized that our ancestors play a crucial role in shaping who we are. They’re not just names in a family tree – they’re a fundamental part of our identity. We inherit more than just genes, we carry forward their experiences, struggles and aspirations.
Understanding our lineage provides a sense of emotional and monetary liberation as also inner strength. By acknowledging and processing the hardships our forebears endured we find a path to personal healing and growth. This journey of understanding often brings a sense of relief, optimism and empowerment.
Our ambitions and aspirations often surpass what our ancestors could have imagined. The very ability to dream big is a gift made possible by the foundations they laid. By connecting with our roots and honoring our ancestors we gain a powerful support system. This connection doesn’t hold us back – instead it propels us forward.
When we achieve our goals, it’s not just a personal triumph. It’s a victory for our entire family legacy, honoring the sacrifices and hopes of generations past. Our success becomes a continuation of their story, a fulfillment of dreams that may have started long before we were born. But yes, there is some work to be done and this time its not the external but the internal clearing and healing of these trapped energies- either we suffer from this unseen zone or we fight this enemy within and succeed.
So why are my forefathers so important to me? Because I have originated from them, I am a part of them, I am like them, I come from them.
Knowing about them gives me emotional freedom and makes me stronger. Because feeling and processing their suffering has been a beautiful way of finding release, ease and hope, and it makes me strong and enables me to give back to life – in their honor. I know that what I want out of life, my dreams and hopes, go so much beyond what could even be thought about by my ancestors. Even having these dreams is a gift of life.
